We are sometimes asked by people who don't live in the parish whether they can marry at St Wystan's.
Briefly, this is the legal position.
You have a right to be married at St Wystan's
if one (or both) of you is resident in the parish or
if you are a regular worshipping member of our church having habitually attended worship for at least 6 months.
Even if you are not now living here, you may also be married at St Wystan's if you have a Qualifying Connection, for example:
if you were baptised in the parish or
if your name is entered in the Confirmation register of the parish or
if you have resided in the parish for at least 6 months
or
if your parent has, during your life time, had their place of residence in the parish for at least 6 months or
if your parent attended public worship in the parish for at least 6 months.
or
if your parent or grandparent was married in the parish.
