Broken and dotted lines indicate the position of early walls which were rediscovered during the works of 1885-6, and which are once again buried beneath the floor.   They include foundations at (S) showing that the nave was not originally a single long rectangle, but that a transverse wall separated it into a western rectangle and an eastern square.
