The Rev'd John Pattinson

Pattinson seems to have been unusual in that he was a local and not a graduate, whereas 19th century vicars were generally from minor gentry / professional / Oxbridge background.

Born in 1765, he was appointed curate around 1790 and became vicar in 1804.

He is buried in the churchyard (plot C29 in the DFHS book) with the headstone inscription: "Sacred to the Memory of the Revd John Pattinson for nearly 53 years curate and incumbent of Repton who died May 17th 1843 aged 78 years. Also of Elizabeth Pattinson wife of the Revd John Pattinson who died June 14th 1823 aged 43 years"

There are still - in 2017 - descendants living in Repton.
