Over 1750 copies of the magazine are produced each month. We aim to deliver to every house in Repton, Foremark, Milton, Ingleby and Newton Solney. Although most of the work is done by volunteers, there are still substantial costs.
Our aim is to serve our local community. Priority is given to information about matters in Repton, Foremark, Milton, Ingleby and Newton Solney, to adverts for local social and charitable events, and then - if there is space - to local businesses. We often have space for articles of local interest submitted by readers, and sometimes for articles or adverts from further afield.
If you do not live in the village and have the magazine delivered, copies are available in the rack by the church door. If you live further afield, have a long-standing connection with Repton, and would like to receive the magazine by post, please contact the editor. There is a charge for this.
The copy date is usually (but not always!) the Wednesday before the 3rd Sunday of the month. You will find next month's in the current magazine at the end of the small ads.
Editorial copy should be delivered by email to the editor, or to 1 Milton Road, Repton, Derbys DE65 6FZ. Please mark envelopes 'Magazine'. If possible, please type. All material (including advertising) may be edited.
All aspects of advertising are at the editor's discretion. Content must be decent, fair and truthful. Assertions and claims must be factual and verifiable.
Commercial advertising in the Parish Magazine is intended for local firms and meant as a service. That's why it's cheap. Individuals living and firms based within our distribution area have preference at all stages.
New ads are restricted to the shorter of 50 words or 3 lines. 10p per word, per month, prepaid, minimum £1. Contact Janine Appleby. She will require copy, contact details (name / address / telephone). Cheques should be made out to Repton P.C.C.
We carry 13 A5 pages of advertising. These are revised each November for the following year. During the year no changes can be made to the advert as all the pages for the following year are printed together in November. There is always a waiting list.
Full and half pages are not available for new advertisers.
For 2019, the annual cost of a half page (app. 11.7 cm w * 8.5 cm h) is £210, a quarter page (app. 5.8 cm w * 8.5 cm h) £105, a sixth of a page (app. 5.8 cm w * 6 cm h) £71, and a sixth of a page on the back cover, £84. A quarter page is half the height of one column in a two column layout. Similarly for a sixth.
We only print in black on white paper. You are required to provide your own artwork by email, and we do insist on payment before we go to print. The ad will be printed as you send it.
This option is open to: village and charitable events; local seasonal business or business events; people who are starting a small business within or very close to our distribution area; businesses which join the waiting list for a printed ad. (The area here may be wider.) Events have priority.
For businesses, the shorter the advert (vertically), the more likely it is that we can find space for it. It will not be every month; what we mostly do is 3 or 4 ads reasonably spaced over the course of a year. We don't guarantee to include it in any particular month, but if your business is seasonal, tell us and we will try to fit in.
Adverts for local charitable events are generally free. (If you are not sure whether you qualify, the editor will advise.) Otherwise, in 2017 for duplicated adverts the monthly charge is £3 per vertical cm. Duplicated adverts cover the page width, 12 cm.
The formatting will be simple and conform to a 'house' style (see below.) A short ad setting out the simple facts is enough. The aim is to get your message across effectively, but without taking unnecessary space or 'shouting'. We will do our best to present your advert attractively. We may or may not be able to use the ad as you send it, but note:
No pdf files; use Word for text and jpg for pictures.
